Agenda Item 11 - Las Vegas Medical District (Related to RDA Item 5): City Council approved a contract with Executive Consulting Group to provide advisory services to assist in developing an implementation strategy for the Las Vegas Medical District. This award recommendation is made as the result of a competitive Request for Proposals process. Executive Consulting Group LLC DBA ECG Management Consultants is located in San Diego, California.

Agenda Item 12 - Las Vegas Days Parade: City Council approved a funding request in the amount of $150,000 for the production of the Las Vegas Days Parade to be held May 13, 2023. Production costs include the running of parade, entry fees for student bands and floats and the staff necessary to operate and manage the event. The amount was approved by the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial at the Aug. 1, 2022 Special Commission Meeting.

Agenda Item 13 - Fun City Motel Sign: City Council approved a funding request in the amount of $187,050 for the costs associated with the refurbishment and installation of the Fun City Motel sign, and one-year maintenance for the sign. The city's Public Works Department is currently conducting street improvements on Las Vegas Boulevard. This project is part of a larger effort to rehabilitate and install historic neon signs along Las Vegas Boulevard within the city limits. This project enhances the federally recognized "Scenic Byway" along Las Vegas Boulevard and connects downtown Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip with historic elements from Las Vegas' past. The sign selected for this installation by city staff is the Fun City Motel Sign which will be placed within the median island of Las Vegas Boulevard between Charleston and Park Paseo. These signs are owned by the city and are ready to be restored and installed in the Las Vegas Blvd median island as part of the Las Vegas Boulevard Widening Project. The Las Vegas Boulevard Widening Project is currently under construction with Las Vegas Paving as the contractor and YESCO as their subcontractor for other neon signs restored and installed with the project. Construction is slated to be complete in April 2023 and the work to refurbish the signs would be in the last two quarters of 2022, with installation of the signs in the first quarter of 2023. The amount was approved by the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial at the Aug. 1, 2022 Special Commission Meeting.

Agenda Item 21 - Desert Pines Golf Course: City Council approved an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement with McCormack Baron Salazar, Inc.to determine the feasibility and development plan for the 101-acre Desert Pines Golf Course site. The ENA provides company the time to determine the feasibility and development plan which may include a mix of affordable and market rate apartments, single family homes, townhomes, age restricted housing plus open space, commercial, community center,and a workforce training center per the Desert Pines Vision Plan developed by The Smith Group.

Agenda Item 23 - Bill No. 2022-16 - Short Term Rentals: City Council approved this bill to amend various sections of LVMC Chapter 6.75, pertaining to short-term residential rentals, to conform to and incorporate various recently-adopted provisions of State law. It also amended other provisions of LVMC Titles 4, 6 and 19 to make corresponding changes. The amendment included provisions that address state-law limitations on location and operation of such rentals, as well as provisions governing the licensing and regulation of accommodations facilitators in accordance with state law.

Agenda Item 24 - Bill No. 2022-18 - Department Name Changes: City Council approved this bill to amend various provisions of the Municipal Code to reflect changes in the names of several departments and divisions within city government; delete references to departments that are to be eliminated or combined with other departments; reflect the names of departments or functions that will succeed to duties and responsibilities of departments that have been eliminated; and update references to departments and divisions whose names have been changed over time.
