Servicemen of the air defence forces of the Central Military District repelled a massive missile and air strike of a mock enemy during an exercise in the Astrakhan region. About 4,000 servicemen and over 500 units of military and special equipment took part in the main draw at the Kapustin Yar training ground.
Combat firing and launches were carried out with the use of Tunguska anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems, S-300V, Tor-M1 and Buk-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems. To create a training and combat situation, various targets were used, including the Saman air targets simulating means, which in their tactical and technical characteristics correspond to combat aircraft, cruise missiles and strike drones. The firing was carried out at different-altitude group and single targets in a difficult radio interference environment.
To participate in the exercise, the units were transferred from the points of permanent deployment in the Penza, Orenburg and Kirov regions. Earlier, the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, announced that the largest air defence exercises with live fire would take place in early September.
