CABEI: the region's main ally in overcoming the health crisis and reactivating the economy

Tegucigalpa, January 26, 2022.- In the last two years, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) has proven to be the main strategic ally of its member countries, playing an important role as a provider of cooperation, donations and financing to support efforts in the fight against the health crisis and in economic reactivation.

In a virtual meeting held on Wednesday with journalists from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and the Dominican Republic, Executive President Dante Mossi said "as the main multilateral resource provider in the region, we are very pleased with the support we have provided to our member countries. By the end of 2021, 68 projects and technical cooperation projects had been delivered, of which 12 are in road infrastructure, 6 in energy and 4 in water and sanitation, thus consolidating our financial strength for the wellbeing of Central Americans".

The ConversaBCIE, led by Mossi, was attended by Finance Manager Hernán Danery Alvarado and the country chief officers in charge of sovereign public sector operations: César Mendizábal (Guatemala), Andrea Kafati (Honduras), Raúl Castaneda (El Salvador), Carlos De Castilla (Nicaragua), Mauricio Chacón (Costa Rica), Carlos Moreno (Panama) and Manuel Ogando (Dominican Republic).
