University of Bergen President Dag Rune Olsen Visits Renmin University of China and Gives A Speech
On October 25th, the president of Renmin University of China, Liu Wei met with University of Bergen President Dag Rune Olsen, and they discussed future cooperation between the two universities.
Liu Wei first reflected on the cooperation history between the two University's Schools of Law, and then introduced the humanities social sciences current situation and the future international cooperation plans for RUC. Dag Rune Olsen agreed with Liu Wei's thoughts on the internationalization of talent training, and also mentioned Norwegian students are very interested in Chinese. Shortly after both universities signed a Student Exchange Agreement which will create many more opportunities for students to study aboard.
Both university presidents then had a discussion on future cooperation developments in research and student events, and then signed a Student Exchange Agreement.
After the signing, Dag Rune Olsen gave a speech on 'The role of universities in sustainable development: The University of Bergen's work on climate change and energy transition'. He compared the United Nations 1000 year development goals and the 2030 sustainable development goals, he also talked about humans understanding towards the never-ending sustainable development process. He then introduced University of Bergen's 2030 continual development goal's main research fields: global society challenge, ocean research and climate energy transitions, the university's ocean sustainable research center and climate research center.
