City of Tuscaloosa Adds Additional Dumpsters to Assist Students During Moving Process

The City of Tuscaloosa's environmental services department has placed nine roll-off dumpsters around the city for students to use during the move in/move out period until Monday, August 22.

The dumpsters have been added to assist students and their families in the removal of household waste during the moving process. Locations for the dumpsters are:

  • Meador Dr. at Cloverdale Rd.
  • 11th Ave. at 12th St.
  • 7th Ave. at 13th St.
  • 5th Ave. between 15th & 16th St.
  • 8th Ave.at 11th St.
  • 9th Ave. between 12th and 13th St.
  • 12th St. (behind Tutwiler)
  • 12th St. at 14th Ave.
  • Thomas St. (in the turnaround behind Publix)

Dumpsters will be marked with move-in/move-out signage. These additional dumpsters are strictly for residential use and are not to be used for contractors or businesses. All debris should be placed inside the dumpsters and not around the dumpsters on the ground.

To limit the amount of garbage created during move-in and move-out, items like cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, plastic bags, aluminum cans, steel soup cans, newspapers/magazines and office paper can be recycled in the blue curbside recycling bin or the drop-off recycling trailers located around the city.

Electronics can be recycled at the Environmental Services Facility at 3440 Reese Phifer Avenue, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
