McCaul on State of the Union: “We Have a Moral Responsibility” to Keep Our Promises to Afghans Who Helped Us

Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul joined Jake Tapper on CNN's 'State of the Union' to discuss the urgent need to address the backlog of approximately 18,000 special immigration visas (SIV) for those Afghans who have worked directly alongside our troops before the U.S. completely pulls out of the country. The two also discussed Rep. McCaul's comprehensive investigation last year into the origins of the COVID pandemic and the Biden Administration's recent announcement calling for further investigation of the theory the virus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV).

'We have a moral responsibility - an obligation - to protect them…For us to leave them behind only to be slaughtered by the Taliban, which is looking more and more like what's going to happen here, would really be unconscionable.'

'This is the worst coverup in human history that's resulted in 3.5 million deaths and created economic devastation around the globe.'
