Anthony Williams, 23, of Boise, ID, was driving westbound on I84 in a 2009 Subaru Impreza. Williams failed to yield to slowing traffic and collided with the rear of a 2014 Mazda MZ5, driven by Benjamin Hawks, 32, of Mountain Home, ID. The Mazda MZ5 was in the second left hand lane of travel when it was struck. It then drove across both right lanes, struck the barrier and came to rest in the far right lane of travel. The Subaru Impreza spun onto the right shoulder. All occupants were wearing a seatbelt.

Hawks, along with his passenger Nerici Palacio, 33, of Mountain Home, ID, and four juvenile passengers were transported by ground ambulance to Saint Luke's Meridian Medical Center.
