EVERFI Announces Agenda and Keynote Speakers for the 2021 Campus Prevention Network Virtual Summit June 9, 2021

EVERFI, Inc., the leading social impact education innovator, today announced the agenda and keynote speakers for the 13th annual Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Summit. This virtual conference will be taking place over two days on July 13th and 15th.

The CPN Summit brings together higher education leaders around the country to share insights and best practices for transforming campuses by putting safety, well-being, and inclusion at the forefront of student and institutional success. This year's agenda features sessions that will address how campus and community outcomes are shaped by social impact issues across the student lifecycle, and the critical role prevention efforts will play in the future of higher education.

The 2021 CPN Summit will open with a keynote from Jeffrey Selingo, best-selling author of Who Gets In and Why: A Year Inside College Admissions, a story from inside college admissions offices that reveals the inner workings and true criteria of the selection process. Throughout this session, Selingo will speak about how questions of value and values are vital in the decision-making process for prospective students and could redefine higher education as we know it.

The CPN Summit will also feature a second keynote from Dr. Michael Sorrell, president of Paul Quinn College - an institution he helped transform into one of the most innovative colleges in America. Dr. Sorrell will speak about how outside-of-the-classroom skills and experiences can impact persistence and post-graduation success. This keynote will be moderated by Dr. Angela Batista, certified Executive and Design Coach, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategist, and 2020-21 NASPA Board Chair.

'The CPN Summit convenes campus leaders and prevention practitioners to share their vision for student success and how it can transform the future of higher education,' said Rob Buelow, senior vice president of EVERFI's Campus Prevention Network. 'Students today expect a college to share their socially conscious values and invest in their well-being and inclusion. For campuses and their communities to thrive, we have to put these issues where they belong: directly in the center of the mission and business of higher education.'

The CPN Summit will also feature a series of conversations led by subject matter experts, workshops for innovation on social impact strategies, and the following plenary sessions focused on student success.

  • The Brand Value of Well-being: Why Our Work is Central to Both Student and Institutional Success
  • Cultivating Global Citizens: How Safety, Belonging, and Engagement Drive Long-Term Success

On the second day, the CPN Summit will also celebrate higher education institutions and national fraternity and sorority organizations that earned the CPN Seal of Prevention. The CPN Seal of Prevention recognizes campuses committed to meeting the highest standard of student well-being, making it easier for students and their parents to search and identify these institutions. Each recipient of the CPN Seal of Prevention has taken action to create a safer, more inclusive college experience through comprehensive, evidence-based digital prevention programs on issues such as sexual assault, alcohol misuse, hazing, mental health, and discrimination. The CPN Seal of Prevention establishes guidelines for discerning quality online prevention education and implementation practices, connecting social impact initiatives to key institutional outcomes, including recruitment, student success, retention, and advancement. The criteria for the CPN Seal of Prevention are based on the Principles of Effective Prevention Programs published by Nation, et al. (2003), with nearly 600 colleges and universities achieving these standardsin its inaugural year.

'The CPN Seal of Prevention recognizes institutions for the commitment they've made to cultivating environments where students can truly succeed,' said Buelow. 'When prospective students weigh their options on where to pursue a college degree, the CPN Seal of Prevention is a mark of distinction for campuses upholding the highest standards of prevention education, and validation for students to know that they're investing in a university that is invested in their well-being, belonging, and success.'
