Debunking the Three Biggest Myths About SSI and Work

If you're a Texan with a disability looking to enter the workforce, fear of losing your Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits can prevent you from seeking employment.

With a new video, we're helping to clear up misconceptions and misinformation about how employment can impact SSI benefits. The short video, 'Debunking the Three Biggest Myths About SSI and Work,' provides information that can help you make an informed and successful transition into the workforce. The video answers the following frequently asked questions:

  • Will I lose my Medicaid or Medicare if I go back to work?
  • Can I only work part-time while receiving SSI benefits?
  • After returning to work, if I lose my job or can't work, will I have to reapply for benefits?
