Trailblazers Hold Off 'Rockers In RMAC Matchup

St. George, Utah --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team put forth a valiant Friday night but couldn't get past No. 16 Dixie State as the Trailblazers outlasted the Hardrockers, 77-69, during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in St. George Utah.

Dixie State was solid shooting from the field shooting almost 50 percent in each half, but despite that, the 'Rockers were able to hit some clutch perimeter shots to stay within striking distance but just ran out of time down the stretch.

The home team took an eight-point advantage into halftime, 39-31, which proved to be the distance as each team cashed in for 38 markers over the final 20 minutes.

SD Mines finished the game shooting 46.6 percent from the field, including a 9-25 effort from three-point range and was 6-10 from the foul line. The 'Rockers crashed the boards for 27 rebounds, collected 16 assists, five steals and blocked three shots.

Dixie State ended the game making good on 29-60 attempts from the field, including 9-18 from downtown, was 9-18 from three-point line and hit 10-14 free throws. They tallied 40 rebounds, 16 assists, seven steals and two blocks.

The 'Rockers were very balanced on offense as all five starters had nine points or better. led the way with 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot. knocked down four three-pointers for 12 points and added five rebounds, four assists and a steal.

finished the game with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks. and both contributed with nine points each.
