Selakovic attends inauguration of President of Colombia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic, in his capacity as special envoy of the President of Serbia, attended today in Bogota the inauguration of new President of Colombia Gustavo Francisco Petro Urega.

Selakovic said that the inauguration is one of the most attended events in this part of the world, which is attended by the presidents of Paraguay, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic, as well as foreign ministers of other Latin American and Caribbean countries.

My visit to Bogota and the inauguration of the president of Colombia were an opportunity to affirm our position with those who support us on an issue that is of the highest national and political importance for us, but also to make familiar those who recognised Kosovo and Metohija with our arguments and express our readiness for the development of cooperation in all other areas, the Minister stated.

This morning Selakovic also spoke with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay Julio Cesar Arriola, saying that that country supports Serbia in the matter of preserving territorial integrity and sovereignty and is our consistent collaborator in international organisations.

Selakovic also spoke with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil Carlos Alberto Franco França, with whom it was agreed to exchange visits of economic delegations, as well as to start regular political consultations of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

One of the interlocutors of the head of Serbian diplomacy was Vice President of the Republic of El Salvador Felix Ulloa, whom he asked in a thorough conversation to consider his position on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.

The Minister will spend the next two days on an official visit to Costa Rica, where he will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and numerous officials of that country, and after that he will wrap up his visit to Latin American countries in Venezuela.
