THE BARBARY NEXT DOOR, A MIDDLE EASTERN GEM FOR SEVEN DIALS

Shaftesbury has announced the official opening of a new relaxed neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar, The Barbary Next Door, the 'little sister' concept adjacent to The Barbary in Neal's Yard, Seven Dials.

Open from early in the morning until evening, the 300 sq ft The Barbary Next Door restaurant located at 16a Neal's Yard serves a menu inspired by the fragrant spices and smoky flavours of Moorish Spain and North African cooking. The Barbary's head chef Daniel Alt is at the helm of the kitchen and supported by an experienced team, providing visitors with an unforgettable visit.

The new concept menu reflects the all-day offer from sweet North African pastries, Moroccan tortillas and Middle Eastern-inspired 'roadside eggs' to a choice of a lunch or dinner or something more, including Tunisian pumpkin salad, chicken pastilla and a range of warming tagines. All options are paired with a considered wine list focussing on Spanish, French and Moroccan bottles by wine director and sommelier Honey Spencer.

Interiors, designed by Gundry & Drucker, have taken their cues from backstreet Andalusian bars to Casablancan twentieth-century design and airy Moroccan courtyards. The zinc bar and seating are backed by a distressed antique mirror and lime-washed walls. Large windows at the entrance will be pulled ajar in the warmer months, and look out onto the alfresco dining terrace, set within Neal's Yard.

Julia Wilkinson, Restaurant Director at Shaftesbury commented: "We have enjoyed working collaboratively with the Paskins across our portfolio for many years and have been delighted at the success of their award-winning Barbary concept, so the addition of their little sister concept, 'The Barbary Next Door', is a natural but equally creative addition to Neal's Yard. We are always pleased be able to provide inspiring restaurant concepts such as 'The Barbary Next Door' a home within our community and for our visitors to experience the diverse and evolving dining line up across Seven Dials."

Zoe Paskin, Co-Founder of The Barbary Next Door, added: "We created The Barbary in two ways, the communal cooking around a fire and a space envisioned on the romance of every back street we have ever wandered down from Seville to Rome, Marrakesh to Marseille. A hidden courtyard and then a discovered bar or restaurant. The Barbary Next Door is all that and the joy of us further exploring the heritage of the regions."
