Tree Canopy Program

Looking to beautify your front yard with cooling shade, beautiful flowers, or fall colors? The City's annual Tree Canopy Program is going on now. For $50, the City will plant a tree in your front yard. The deadline to apply is October 14, but tree species are assigned to applicants on a "first come, first served" basis.

Trees increase property value, intercept stormwater, reduce energy demands, cool temperatures, promote healthier living, and so much more.

The City's urban forester will meet onsite before planting to confirm the location. When choosing where to plant, think of proper spacing from buildings, other trees, and utilities (water, sewer, gas, electric, etc.). Trees are planted in December by the City's Parks Division. All you need to do is maintain the tree, which includes watering it at least once per week during the first three growing seasons (April through October).
