WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) voted today to pass a bipartisan emergency security funding package, including to reimburse the National Guard for the costs it incurred to protect the Capitol in the wake of the January 6thinsurrection. Senator Hassan had previously pushed for this funding to ensure that the NH National Guard has the resources it needs for future trainings and missions.
'This bipartisan bill will protect our national security and support those who have worked tirelessly to keep America safe, secure, and free,' said Senator Hassan. 'I am deeply grateful to the National Guard members from New Hampshire and across the country who stepped up to uphold our democracy after the January 6th insurrection, and this bill ensures that the National Guard is fully reimbursed for the cost of these efforts. This bill also includes critical funding to help our Afghan partners who put their lives on the line to support American troops in the region with counterterrorism efforts. I am glad that the Senate came together on a bipartisan basis for this much-needed emergency funding, and I urge the House to quickly pass this as well.'
