The University of Mary scored four goals in the third period to erase a 3-1 deficit and take a 5-3 victory over the University of Jamestown hockey team Friday night at Wilson Arena.
Jamestown took a 2-0 lead at 8:24 of the second period with goals just 22 seconds apart by Tyler Chavez-Leech (JR/Red Deer, Alberta) and Destin Robinson (SR/Ponoka, Alberta). The Marauders answered with a score of their own at 9:57 of the second to make it a one-goal game.
Aidan Potas (FR/Fargo, N.D.) netted a power play goal 2:40 into the third, giving UJ its second two-goal lead of the night. UMary countered with four straight goals over a span of 11:42 as Zach Garrett, Seth Cushing, Alex Flicek, and Cushing again made it a 5-3 lead for the visitors.
The Jimmies pulled goaltender Tyson Brouwer (SR/Lethbridge, Alberta) in favor of an extra attacker with 1:11 remaining in the third but were unable to take advantage. Brouwer made 21 saves on the night. Marauder goalie Lance Knudson stopped 24 shots in the win.
Dylan Haney (JR/Brandon, Manitoba), Allan Pruss (SR/Red Deer, Alberta), Garret Browning (SR/Winnipeg, Manitoba), Ned Simpson (SR/Kitchener, Ontario), and Cole McKechney (SR/Calgary, Alberta) picked up assists for Jamestown (0-1-0), who host Minot State on October 3.
