Inseason Actions #18 - #19 in Ocean Salmon Fisheries

NOAA Fisheries has taken inseason actions in the 2022 commercial ocean salmon fishery.

• Inseason action #18: Effective July 1, 2022, retention of halibut caught incidental to the commercial salmon fishery (U.S./Canada border to U.S./Mexico border) is extended past June 30, 2022, on dates that the commercial salmon fishery is open, with the same landing and possession limits set preseason (IPHC license holders may land no more than 1 Pacific halibut per each 2 Chinook, except one Pacific halibut may be landed without meeting the ratio requirement, and no more than 35 halibut may be landed per trip).

This action was taken to provide access to the remaining 2022 incidental halibut allocation.

• Inseason action #19 modified the Chinook salmon landing and possession limit for the commercial salmon troll fishery across the entire North of Falcon area, regardless of subarea, to: 50 Chinook salmon per vessel starting 12:01 a.m. July 1 through July 6, 2022; and 40 Chinook per vessel per landing week (Thursday through Wednesday) starting 12:01 a.m. July 7, 2022.

This action was taken to extend the season length and allow access to the Chinook and coho salmon quotas.
