A detachment of ships of the Black Sea Fleet takes part in an exercise with ships of the Algerian Navy

A detachment of ships of the Black Sea Fleet (BSF) consisting of the frigate Admiral Grigorovich, the patrol ship Dmitry Rogachev and the rescue tugboat SB-742 from the permanent grouping of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea is taking part in the international exercise Joint Naval Maneuvers - 2021 with ships of the Navy of the Algerian People's Democratic Republic.

From the Algerian Navy, the frigate Harrad with a helicopter on board, the training ship La Summam, the rescue vessel El Munjid, a patrol aircraft and a search and rescue helicopter are taking part in the exercise.

The naval phase of the exercise will take place on November 16-17 in the southwestern part of the Mediterranean Sea, at the training grounds of the Algerian Navy.

At sea, Russian and Algerian sailors will work out cooperation to curb illegal activities at sea: piracy, illegal cargo transportation, terrorist activities, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

For the period of the naval phase of the exercise, a single headquarters of the international naval unit has been formed. In accordance with the protocol agreed by the parties, the commander of the joint unit is the representative of the Algerian Navy, the commander of the Central Area of the Algerian Navy, Rear Admiral Kaid Nordin, the chief of staff of the unit is the commander of the Novorossiysk Navy of the Black Sea Fleet, Rear Admiral Viktor Kochemazov. The headquarters is located on board the flagship of the Algerian Navy.

The results of the exercise will be summed up on November 18-19 on the territory of the Algiers naval base in the coastal headquarters of the exercise.
