An allotment site in Mistley is being taken off the list of assets of community value because another piece of land is now available for the same use.
The Brunswick House Allotments were originally added to the list following a request by Mistley Parish Council in 2015.
That move was made after the allotment owners were given notice to quit by the owner after the land had been cultivated and maintained for 27 years.
However, Tendring District Council (TDC) has approved a planning application for 25 bungalows on a nearby site - and as part of the legal agreement with the developer land for new allotments is to be provided.
TDC's Cabinet agreed to the Brunswick plot being removed from the register with the backing of the Parish Council at their meeting on Friday.
Lynda McWilliams, TDC's Cabinet Member for Health and Education, said it was the right move.
'There is now a separate like for like piece of land very close by to the original allotment site,' she said.
'Mistley Parish Council is happy with this situation with this new provision virtually next door.'
The request for the site to be taken off the list was made by the owner who wishes to sell it so that a developer can complete the scheme, including the new allotments.
