Announcing Our Global Give 2021 Grantee Winners
We are proud to announce our 2021 Global Give grantee winners. Our nonprofit grantees hail from communities all over the world where our employees live and work. From India and Australia, to Germany and the Netherlands, to Austin and San Jose, our employees were fully involved in the grantmaking program, making it a truly global effort to support inclusive entrepreneurship in local communities.
Through Global Give, the eBay Foundation invites eBay employees to make their communities a better place by helping entrepreneurs of all backgrounds. It's also a way to live our purpose by supporting and creating economic opportunity for all, especially those from historically underrepresented communities.
This summer, the eBay Foundation asked employees to help choose innovative nonprofits that support entrepreneurship and small businesses in a variety of capacities. At the end of July, eBayers cast over 7,700 votes to help determine the winners of $3 million USD through our employee-involved grantmaking.
'How we show up in the communities where our employees live and work matters,' said Allie Ottoboni, eBay Foundation president. 'From volunteering to driving local giving campaigns - our employees play an important role in their communities. The Global Give program adds their voice in choosing the grantees we support on a local level.'
Small businesses have the power to create jobs, fuel economies and enrich already vibrant communities. The eBay Foundation is committed to supporting inclusive entrepreneurship - the fabric of our communities.
Our 49 grant winners represent each of eBay's three main regions: Asia Pacific, the Americas and the Middle East.
The winners include Udyogini, which helps tribal and indigenous women in India, Social Entrepreneurs Ireland helping those experiencing homelessness in Ireland, and Latinitas, breaking the barriers for Latinx girls in Austin, Texas.
'We are honored to partner with eBay Foundation in transforming the lives of thousands of women from marginalised communities,' said Deepti Ameta, head of business and organization development for Udyogini. 'Your faith in our mission is a testimony to the possibility of a gender just world.'
In Europe, other winners include Dublin-based Inner City Enterprise.
'The generosity of eBay's Foundation and eBay employees will enable our team to continue its mission,' said Evanne Kilmurray, CEO of Inner City Enterprise. 'Which is to help marginalized unemployed individuals, social enterprises and young entrepreneurs establish their own businesses in Dublin's inner city.'
And in the U.S., Black Girl Ventures is helping Black and other women of color grow their businesses by providing access to social and financial capital.
'We are excited to continue our relationship with eBay and be a part of the movement to continuously support organizations that are focused on advancing Black and Brown women economically,' said Shelly Omilàdè Bell, CEO of Black Girl Ventures Foundation. 'With this grant, eBay is supporting our goal to serve 100,000 women-identifying entrepreneurs, which will create over 20,000 jobs and sustain over 50,000 families.'
