Larson Votes for $4.5 Billion Funding Bill for Humanitarian Assistance at the Border

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the $4.5 billion emergency supplemental funding to provide humanitarian assistance to migrant children and families at the border. It also enhances protections for unaccompanied children, expands Congressional oversight, and restricts the Administration's ability to repurpose this funding meant to aid migrant families.

'The humanitarian crisis on our border is a stain on our nation's history. The treatment of migrant children and families by this Administration has been horrific and appalling. That's why I voted today to send $4.5 billion immediately to the border to help these children and families and to hold the Administration accountable. This money will be used to provide legal assistance, food, water, sanitary items, blankets and medical services, support services for unaccompanied children, and refugee services. We must put an end to children being kept in influx shelters and without sufficient support services. These are refugees not prisoners. This funding will be only be used to help migrant families and not to build a useless wall,' said Larson.
