City Park All-Inclusive Playground Construction

You may notice a construction zone when visiting Lakeway City Park over the next few months. It is for a new all-inclusive playground, replacing the old lower level playground since it recently reached its life cycle. After disassembly of the old playground is complete, installation of the new playground will take place. Please avoid any areas marked off at Lakeway City Park during this process. Besides construction of the playground, crews will be trimming trees and adding temporary irrigation to the site for the concrete work, and to establish surrounding turf at the conclusion of the project.

The new all-inclusive playground was a discussion in the City's Capital Improvement Plan addressed at City Council in April of 2021. Input from parents and caregivers throughout the community have expressed a desire to have an all-inclusive playground that would allow children and adults of all ages and abilities the opportunity to experience play and positive social interactions together. The new playground will meet those needs. It will also include shade structures for the extreme summer heat.

The new all-inclusive playground is expected to be complete by the end of March.
