Assistive Technology Awareness Day: Join ND Protection and Advocacy in Celebration

(Bismarck, ND) At Protection and Advocacy (P&A), we are honored to stand alongside Governor Burgum in commemorating April 17, 2024, as Assistive Technology Awareness Day, an occasion to recognize the profound impact of assistive technology on the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Governor Burgum has released a proclamation that underscores the transformative power of assistive technology in promoting inclusivity:
• Assistive technology plays a pivotal role in fostering independence and community engagement for individuals with disabilities and older adults.
• North Dakota's commitment to developing and implementing assistive technology programs aligns closely with the principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
• The integration of assistive technology in the workplace serves not only to empower individuals but also to address workforce shortages within our state.
In celebrate of Assistive Technology Awareness Day, P&A has released a new assistive technology explainer video. At ND Protection and Advocacy (P&A), we stand ready to support individuals with disabilities in accessing assistive technology. P&A offers services such as information and referral, advocacy assistance, representation, and legal support. P&A can also assist in providing education and guidance on assistive technology and how to access it through various funding sources.
P&A also recognizes ND Assistive, a nonprofit organization committed to providing assistive technology devices and services, for their dedication to providing assistive technology to individuals across North Dakota. Their unwavering leadership and commitment has been instrumental in educating and advocating for change within North Dakota's service delivery system.

P&A is a federally mandated, independent state agency established in 1977 to advance the human and legal rights of people with disabilities.
