Communities to hold ‘Rally for the Valley,’ demand TVA stop gas buildout

NASHVILLE, TN - On Wednesday, May 8, people from across the Tennessee Valley will gather in Nashville's Centennial Park to "Rally for the Valley" after the Tennessee Valley Authority Board of Directors' Listening Session. The federal utility is trying to rush forward the largest gas buildout of any utility in the nation by 2030, with eight methane gas plants and three pipelines proposed, planned or built in the last three years. The TVA board has the power to stop the costly fossil fuel buildout, and impacted communities are demanding action now.

WHO: Community leaders on the frontlines of opposition to TVA's gas buildout; local musicians Jonathan Singleton, Matthew Paige, Andrei Garthoff and Jaffee Judah; and special guests like Bill McKibben and Tennessee State Representative Aftyn Behn.
