Teen Battle of the Bands Panelists!

The vibrant town of San Anselmo is gearing up to reverberate with the electrifying sounds of its young musical talents as the first ever Teen Battle of the Bands competition kicks off for its highly anticipated event on April 27th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm in Creek Park.

Organized by the San Anselmo Arts Commission in partnership with the Town of San Anselmo, this year's Teen Battle of the Bands promises to be an unforgettable showcase of raw talent and creative expression from young musicians. The event will feature 12 bands (ages 9th-12th grades) competing for the title of Teen Battle of the Bands champion. Each band has selected three songs of the Rock genre to perform.

The bands will be judged by an all-star panel of judges who will bring a high level of expertise and industry experience to the show. We couldn't be more excited to announce our panel which includes Johnny Colla of Huey Lewis and The News, Craig Bartock of Heart, Mark Nelson of Walking Mirrors (and San Anselmo's Live on the Avenue Rockstar Sponsor), Paul Liberatore - Columnist from the Marin IJ, and Eileen Burke - Mayor of San Anselmo.

The winning band will be awarded a $1,000 cash prize and a chance to play at Live on the Avenue 2024! They will also get one song professionally produced and recorded by two amazing producers and local musicians - Craig Bartock and Aidan Nelson. Craig Bartock, of Your Musicality, is a music industry veteran with numerous credits in records, live work, production, and songwriting. He is a long-standing member of the iconic rock band HEART. Aidan Nelson, of Salter, is a talented musician and sound engineer who has had the pleasure of working with many prominent musicians including Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, The Wailers, Steve Poltz, the Wood Brothers, and many more. The runner-up will win $500.

This event is completely free to attend, so get this on your calendar, tell your friends, and come support these budding musicians.
