FARGO, N.D. - A pair of Power Five schools will visit the Scheels Center this year to highlight the 2019-20 North Dakota State women's basketball schedule. The Bison will host 15 games this season, along with an exhibition game.
'Our schedule this year is going to be very challenging,' first year head coach said. 'We have some great opportunities to test ourselves against multiple postseason and 20-plus win teams. Being able to host two Power Five level schools will be a great experience for our players and fans. The schedule is tough, but we have a clear direction in where we're going as a program. Being able to play, compete and see where we are in comparison to really good teams will only help us moving forward.'
The Bison will host Minnesota Crookston in an exhibition game on Nov. 1 at the Scheels Center before heading to Northern Iowa for the regular season opener on Nov. 6. The first home game of the era will be against Northern Illinois, as the Huskies come to Fargo on Nov. 10.
NDSU will make a return trip to Creighton on Nov. 18 before hosting Iowa State on Nov. 22. The Cyclones will be the first Big 12 school to ever play in Fargo. NDSU will have a game before Thanksgiving, as Wyoming comes to town on Nov. 25. The Bison will spend Thanksgiving weekend on the East Coast, facing Northeastern on Nov. 30 and New Hampshire on Dec. 1.
The final road game of the non-conference season comes Dec. 5 at Bradley. The Bison will play three-straight non-conference games at home on Sundays to finish the non-conference season, starting with Wisconsin on Dec. 8. The Badgers are the first Big Ten team outside of Minnesota to play in Fargo. Mayville State (Dec. 15) and Waldorf (Dec. 22) round out the non-conference schedule.
During the non-conference portion of the schedule, the Bison will face five teams that won 20 or more games last season. The non-conference portion also features four teams that played in the NCAA or WNIT last year. Iowa State advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, while Wyoming advanced to the WNIT Quarterfinals.
NDSU will open Summit League play on Dec. 29 at Denver. The Summit League home opener is scheduled for Jan. 2 against Western Illinois. NDSU will host North Dakota on Jan. 19 at the Scheels Center.
