3rd International SCO Issyk-Kul Marathon

On 14 May 2022, the 3rd International SCO Issyk-Kul Marathon was held on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyz Republic). The race involved about 3,000 professional athletes and amateur runners from 22 countries. The event consisted of four distances: 3 km, 10 km, 21.1 km and 42.2 km.

Taking part in the opening ceremony were Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov and Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Azamat Zhamankulov.

SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming delivered welcome remarks via a video address, noting that the SCO marathon had become a bridge and a link to deepen the traditional friendship and closeness between all nations of the world.

The winner of the men's 42.2 km event was Shokhrukh Davlatov (Republic of Uzbekistan). Ilya Tyapkin (Kyrgyz Republic) came second, and Berdigul Aitpai-uulu (Kyrgyz Republic) finished third.
The women's event was won by Yekaterina Tungusko (Republic of Uzbekistan). In second place was Galina Yakusheva (Republic of Kazakhstan), followed by Yulia Fernas (Kyrgyz Republic) in third.
The winner of the men's half marathon (21.1 km) was Nursultan Keneshbekov (Kyrgyz Republic). Rakhimzhan Kelmanov (Republic of Kazakhstan) finished second, and Sergei Platonov (Republic of Belarus) placed third.
Yevgenia Prokofyeva (Ukraine) won the women's half marathon, followed by Olga Nemogai (Republic of Belarus) and Gulshanoi Satarova (Kyrgyz Republic).
