There is 'hope' available for potential first-time homebuyers in Pinellas, Pasco, Polk and Hillsborough counties who are in search of the American Dream but don't know how to start the process. The H.O.P.E. (Home Ownership for People Everywhere) Expo will be held on Saturday, May 18, at Raymond James Financial Center located at 880 Carillon Parkway, St. Petersburg from 8:15 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The expo features a one-day, six-hour workshop. There will be a workshop held in English and in Spanish designed to satisfy education requirements for a variety of affordable housing loans and down payment assistance programs. Part One begins at 9 a.m. and Part Two begins at 1 p.m. Attendance at both parts of the workshop is mandatory for participants to receive the required certificate. Anyone from any participating county is invited to attend this HUD-approved workshop. Registration is required.
The event will also feature 32 exhibitors, including lenders, realtors, credit counselors and representatives from down payment assistance programs. Attendees will have a chance to win a big screen television and other door prizes. Lunch will be available for purchase. Attendees must bring cash. There are no ATMs on site. Children are not permitted at the event.
In its 28th year, the H.O.P.E. Expo is a partnership between area HUD Housing Counseling agencies; the cities of Clearwater, Largo and St. Petersburg; Pinellas County Planning Department; the Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County; and lenders, realtors and more.
