General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces - First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, arrived in Khabarovsk on the morning of April 8 to check the formations and military units of the Eastern Military District.

Valery Gerasimov heard a report by the commander of the Eastern Military District, Colonel-General Gennady Zhidko, officials of military command and control bodies and commanders of units on the progress of the implementation of a set of measures for operational and combat training, and also checked the infrastructure facilities of military camps and training grounds.

Check measures in the troops of the Eastern Military District are carried out by a commission of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces under the leadership of Chief of the General Staff, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov. Also the commission of the General Staff consists of Deputy Defence Ministers of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Dmitry Bulgakov and Lieutenant General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.

The check for the winter period of training is carried out in accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the military command and control bodies, formations and military units on the territory of all military districts and the Northern Fleet, including in the regions of the Far North, as well as in the branches and branches of the Russian Armed Forces.

In total, 4,048 exercises of various scales will be held during April, including 812 two-way exercises, at 101 training grounds and 520 facilities of the training and material base.
