A Dialogue between the Customs Administration of Bolivia on Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) and the Customs Administrations of Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay

On 19 November 2021, as part of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) and under the auspices of the WCO Mercator Programme, a Virtual Dialogue on Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) was organised for the Customs Administration of Bolivia, to gain first-hand insights on the AEO Programmes that are carried out in Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay.

This one-day activity involved presentations and discussions with AEO experts from the Customs administrations of Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay, as part of the overall regional cooperation promoted by the GTFP between its beneficiary countries, in order to share knowledge, good practices and practical approaches. The three countries shared the lessons learned on the implementation of AEO programmes, as well as the challenges encountered. The Dialogue also gave the Customs Administration of Bolivia the opportunity to explore some potential actions which could be undertaken at a national level on different aspects such as organizational structure, communications, and operations strategy of the Bolivian AEO programme.

Under the GTFP, the WCO will continue to provide further technical assistance to Bolivia, aiming to strengthen the national AEO programme established in 2014, and to increase the number of trusted traders in the country.
