Cairn Homes Plc submits planning for first 569 new homes in Clonburris

Following decades of master planning by South Dublin County Council and recent critical infrastructure funding commitments by Government, the planning application for the construction of the first competitively priced homes at Clonburris has been lodged by Cairn Homes Plc today (2^nd December).

The application by Cairn Homes Plc is an exciting milestone in the journey to construct quality new homes at scale in this attractive location. Clonburris will be a significant new suburb close to the city in Dublin 24 and will be serviced by existing and enhanced key public transport infrastructure. This first planning application is for the first 569 homes out of an ultimate total of 9,000 homes, making the exciting new suburb of Clonburris of comparative scale to large towns such as Naas and Navan.

This first phase application seeks permission for 569 family homes, incorporating 173 houses, 148 duplex homes and 248 apartments, a creche, two local parks and children's play areas, together with a green link alongside Fonthill Road.

Clonburris represents a once in a generation opportunity that is set to create a vibrant and sustainable community with top-class amenities in a well-designed and planned environment. On its portion of 96 hectares of land, Cairn will be developing a total of 5,000 of the 9,000 new homes, as well as commercial and retail space within a dedicated Urban Core, local parks and a linear park along the canal.

Planning permission was recently granted for critical infrastructure in Clonburris, and the construction of 4km of roads, bus corridors, cycle lands and pedestrian routes is expected to start in early 2022. Public transport infrastructure investment includes the soon to be electrified Dublin-Kildare railway line, part of the Dart Expansion Plan, which will support Cairn's long-term vision of creating a vibrant new community in Dublin. The delivery of this infrastructure unlocks the ability to construct and deliver new homes at pace in what will be a new suburb that will deliver new supply at scale across social, affordable and private housing.
