State Police Investigating Fatal Crash State Route 80 in Fabius

On May 01, 2024, the New York State Police Lafayette investigated a personal injury motor vehicle accident at the Intersection of State Route 80 and Ridge Road in the Village of Fabius that occurred at approximately 9:17 PM.

Initial investigation determined a 2017 Harley Davidson operated by Daniel T. Ankers age 59 of New Woodstock, NY, was following a 2020 Ford Escape operated by Hollie J. Haaf age 46 of Manlius, NY. Both vehicles were traveling east on State Route 80 in the Village of Fabius. As both vehicles approached the intersection of State Route 80 and Ridge Road, the motorcycle attempted to pass the Ford Escape as it was making a left turn onto Ridge Road. The motorcycle struck the side of the Ford Escape, where Mr. Ankers was ejected.

Mr. Ankers was transported to Upstate University Hospital and pronounced deceased at 10:34 PM.

Ms. Haaf was treated for an abrasion on her arm.

This investigation is continuing.
