Grand Teton Drive Overpass Construction Begins March 31 At U.S. 95

U.S. 95 To Have Two Lanes Each Direction During Construction

The city of Las Vegas will begin work on an overpass of U.S. 95 at Grand Teton Drive March 31, 2024, to improve mobility through the northwest part of the city. U.S. 95 will be reduced to two lanes in both directions starting Sunday night. Motorists also should expect disruptions on Grand Teton and adjacent streets between Tee Pee Lane and El Capitan Way during the 18+ months of construction. Work hours on the project will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lane restrictions on U.S. 95 will be in place for up to 18 months. In addition, some night work will be required.

The scope of the project will include a bridge structure over U.S. 95, plus necessary roadway reconstruction, utility relocations, street lighting and the completion of a multi-use trail currently ending at Ackerman Avenue on the east side through to the west of U.S. 95 along Grand Teton. (See rendering.) Beginning April 1 on the east side of U.S. 95, West Grand Teton Drive will be closed at El Capitan Way; Sky Point Drive will be closed permanently north of Grand Teton and will end in a cul-de-sac to be built on the north side of the future bridge. (See map.) On the west side of U.S. 95, beginning April 8, Oso Blanca Road will be closed at Gilcrease Avenue and North Tee Pee Lane; Grand Teton will be closed west of Oso Blanca; North Ft. Apache Road will close south of Grand Teton. (See map.)

Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. The $41 million project is funded by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada and the Federal Highway Administration. Those with questions or concerns during the work should call 702.240.7440. A weekly update on the project will be available by email; all parties interested in receiving the emails should contact Angela Arriola at [email protected] with the subject line "Grand Teton Stakeholders Interest List."
