Savills becomes an accredited Living Wage Employer

The Living Wage Foundation introduced the new rate to reflect living costs in the UK, basing pay on what employees and their families need to get by rather than the government's target to reach 60% of median earnings by 2020. The real Living Wage is now paid voluntarily by more than 5,000 businesses who believe their staff deserve a fairer salary.

By paying the Living Wage businesses have improved their reputation, seen increased motivation and retention of their employees, differentiated themselves from others in the industry and improved relations between managers and staff. At present Savills is one of the only large property advisers to have received this accreditation.

Noel McGonigle, head of HR at Savills, comments: 'The wellbeing of our staff is one of our key priorities and by paying the Living Wage we are ensuring that salaries remain in line with the rising cost of living across the UK. This commitment has not only had a positive impact on our staff, but also the business, proving to both our current and potential future clients that we take our corporate social responsibility seriously.'
