EASTSTROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University senior has been named to the 2019 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II All-America First Team.
Walters becomes the seventh player in ESU program history to earn AFCA All-America honors and is the first since Jon Schnaars in 2015.
Walters was recognized by the nation's coaches with an AFCA First Team honor at the kicker position after a record-setting season during his senior campaign. The Sciota, Pennsylvania native was also named to the PSAC East All-Conference Offensive and Defensive First Teams two weeks ago for his dual kicking and punting duties with the Warriors.
Walters tied the ESU single-season program record with 16 made field goals on the year, finishing 16-for-19 for an 84.2-percent conversion rate. He rounded out his career with 188 points, which is good for fourth-most by a kicker in program history. Walters set a new ESU and PSAC record by drilling a 56-yard field goal at West Chester on October 26. The senior was also perfect on extra points on the season, converting all 40 of his attempts.
Walters helped the Warriors to a 6-5 overall record, which marked the team's first six-win season since 2015.
