The University of Jamestown men's basketball program released its 2019-20 schedule today, announcing their 32-game regular season slate.
The Jimmies' initial regular season games will take place at the first annual Cedric Smith Classic, hosted by the University of Jamestown. The four game Classic is being hosted in memory of former Jimmie men's basketball player, Cedric Smith. Smith was with the program for his senior season, and then assisted the team as a student coach for a single season before passing away unexpectedly in 2016. The Cedric Smith Classic will take place on October 18th and 19th; the Jimmies will face the University of Winnipeg at 7:30 p.m. on the 18th, and the University of Brandon at 4 p.m. on the 19th.
The Jimmies will play in ten other non-conference games against familiar regional teams as they prepare themselves for the grueling 20-game Great Plains Athletic Conference schedule. The Jimmies will look to defend their GPAC Tournament title this season, with the first of the GPAC games being played at Doane University on November 16th.
Head Coach Danny Neville is entering his fifth season at the helm. His teams have averaged 21 wins in his first four years, and have a record of 49-16 in the last two seasons. The Jimmies finished their 2018-19 campaign ranked 10th in the country, the highest ranking of Coach Neville's tenure.
