President Aoun saluted the memory of the martyrs of the Qana massacre, while meeting UNIFIL Commander.

President Aoun: 'Lebanon is committed to Resolution 1701, and preserving stability and security on the border region'.

President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, met UNIFIL Commander, General Stephane Del Col, today at the Presidential Palace, and deliberated with him the situation in South Lebanon and the work of UNIFIL in coordination with the Lebanese Army.

The President reaffirmed Lebanese commitment to Resolution 1701 and the importance of maintaining stability and security on the border region, pointing to the continuous Israeli land, sea and air violations. President Aoun also asserted the constant coordination with the Army command in tasks and missions undertaken by UNIFIL, stressing the importance of strengthening relations with people, municipalities and local bodies.

Moreover, the President of the Republic saluted the memory of the martyrs of Qana massacre which took place on the 18th of April 1996, and praised the efforts exerted by UNIFIL, its officers, command and military personnel.

In addition, the President praised the assistance provided by UNIFIL in mine removal and other tasks which they undertake in coordination with the Lebanese Army, deployed in the international operations area.
