Speech by Minister Luigi Di Maio at the opening ceremony of the PRE-COP26 Parliamentary Conference

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, is participating in the opening ceremony of the PRE-COP26 Parliamentary Conference. The event will take place beginning at 3 pm today, 8 October, in the chamber of Palazzo Montecitorio, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

Introducing the Conference are the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico, the President of the Senate, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Duarte Pacheco, the President of the Italian Group of the IPU, and the IPU's honorary President, Pierferdinando Casini.

Minister Di Maio will be addressing the conference as Keynote Speaker on the theme "Global ambitions to combat climate change" together with Giorgio Parisi, Nobel Prize in Physics 2021, and the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.
