The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo has participated in the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, were organized remotely.

In the spring meetings, which took place from 5 to 12 April 2021, Governor Mehmeti and representatives of the CBK participated in a meeting with the Director of the IMF Department for Europe, Alfred Kammer, discussing the latest economic, fiscal and financial developments, as well as plans and expectations for 2021.

These developments were also discussed at the meeting with the International Monetary Fund Mission team for Kosovo. On this occasion, Governor Mehmeti informed the representatives of the International Monetary Fund about the situation in the country's financial system.

Representatives of the CBK also held a meeting with representatives of the IMF, namely the Department of Monetary Policy and Capital Markets, where they discussed the process of implementing the recommendations arising from previous IMF technical assistance. In this meeting was also expressed the interest for future support for the areas important for the CBK.

Governor Mehmeti and representatives of the CBK also participated in the plenary meeting of the International Monetary Committee of the International Monetary Fund, where they discussed various topics related to addressing the pandemic, promoting sustainable inclusive recovery and reviving global cooperation. .

Governor Mehmeti participated in the separate meetings of the Constitution of the International Monetary Fund and the Constitution of the World Bank, part of which is the Republic of Kosovo, as well as the meeting organized by the International Monetary Fund on the topic perspectives and policy challenges for Europe.

Also on Monday, Governor Mehmeti will hold a virtual meeting with the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Anna Bjerde, with whom he will discuss the latest economic, fiscal and financial developments, as well as future reforms and projects.

Spring meetings of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group bring together bankers of central banks, finance ministers, private sector leaders, representatives of civil society organizations and academics to discuss economics-focused finance issues. global, international development and those of the world financial system.
