Tajani chairs the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Capri (17-19 April)

A three-day G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting will be held in Capri (17-19 April) under the Presidency of Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

"Against a background of strong international tensions, the Italian-led G7 is tasked with working for peace, " commented Tajani, adding, "the government is committed to a well-rounded effort to achieve this objective, and we are confident that the Capri meeting will significantly contribute to this objective".

The agenda will revolve around the most debated international issues, from the situation in the Middle East, and focus on the latest developments following the Iranian attack against Israel, Gaza, and the Red Sea crisis.

The Ministers will also discuss a response to Russia's aggression in Ukraine. In this regard, Minister Tajani invited the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, and the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, to the Capri meeting.

In line with the Government's attention to Africa, there will be a session in which Mauritania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, will also join the session as the African Union Chairperson. This session will have as its main focus the strengthening of the G7 partnership with the African continent.

The G7 Ministers will also discuss stability in the Indo-Pacific region, representing a pivotal political balance and global trade area. In addition, the meeting will include debates on the main current global issues, such as infrastructure connectivity, cybersecurity, AI, and the fight against fake news.

Deputy Prime Minister Tajani's closing press conference will be held at the end of the event on Friday, 19 April.
