City of Tuscaloosa to Hold Community Engagement Event on Lake Nicol and Harris Lake Master Plan

As part of its Elevate Tuscaloosa initiative, the City of Tuscaloosa is hosting a community engagement event to seek public feedback for improvements to Lake Nicol and Harris Lake. The event will be held on August 22 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Phelps Activity Center.

The City has contracted with TTL to create a masterplan that will help inform decisions on the lakes for years to come. Staff from TTL will be present a more in-depth look at potential concepts for the lake, and ask for feedback and ideas from the public.

"Elevate Tuscaloosa hopes to expand opportunities and access to both Harris Lake and Lake Nicol with the hope of attracting locals and visitors," shared Mayor Walt Maddox. "The process begins with a master plan that will envision the future of the lakes. This will include options for improvements and a proposal for phasing in the improvements over time."

If you are unable to attend but would still like to share your thoughts, a survey made with the intent to understand the community's future desire for the lakes will be available until late August at elevatetuscaloosa.com/lakesurvey.
