AFT President Weingarten Reacts to Another Roadblock for Voting Rights

WASHINGTON-American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten issued the following statement in response to the failed Senate vote to continue debate on the critical voting rights legislation:

"History will record that tonight, Jan. 19, 2022, 52 members of the U.S. Senate-50 Republicans and two Democrats-refused to see the voter suppression and subversion some states have legislated, the former president's big lie, the Jan. 6 insurrection, and the existential threat these are to our democracy and way of life.

Shame on them."
