Sash Macura, a standout with Blacktown City FC in the National Premier Leagues NSW men's one competition the past three years, has decided to call Cromer Park home in 2017.
The defensive midfielder is one of the most astute signings by the club in the past decade, such is his quality.
'Pre-season has been tough but great, the boys are hungry to do well,' Macura said.
'The facilities at Cromer (Park) are good and I am really looking forward to playing with the likes of Brendan Cholakian and Joey Fox.
'Our aim is top two in the league and to go deep in the FFA Cup and Waratah Cup.
'We definitely have the players to win some silverware.'
After learning the basics at Dee Why Oval, Macura went on to play Premier Youth League football with Northern Tigers, APIA Leichhardt Tigers and Bonnyrigg White Eagles up until 2008.
The Narrabeen Sports High graduate then headed to Serbia for trials with Super Liga outfit FK Vojvodina.
After spending some time with Vojvodina, he soon moved on to play in Hungary with MTK Budapest.
An abdominal hernia operation as well as a succession of niggling injuries saw Macura return home in 2013, with Blacktown City reacting quickest in terms of a contract for the following winter.
Plenty of success followed, but the Warriewood resident wanted a fresh start closer to home.
'My family and friends are on the northern beaches, and I won't miss sitting in traffic on the M2,' he said.
'I'm excited, the potential at Manly is huge.'
United open their campaign this Saturday night on the road at Seymour Shaw Reserve against Sutherland.
