Notice of Accepting Applications for Vacancies on Volunteer Advisory Boards
NOTICE OF ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR VACANCIES ON VOLUNTEER ADVISORY BOARDS
The Marion County Board of County Commissioners currently has vacancies on the following volunteer boards:
1. Code Enforcement Board
(1 Alternate Member - Unexpired Term 02/2026)
Members shall be residents of Marion County and should have experience or interest in zoning and building control, ad shall, whenever possible be in the field of architecture, engineering, general contracting, or subcontracting.
Responsibilities: Members shall have the power to adopt rules for the conduct of its hearings; subpoena alleged violators & witnesses to its hearings; subpoena records, surveys, plats & other documentary evidence; take testimony under oath; issue orders having the force & effect of law, commanding whatever steps are necessary to bring a violation into compliance and establish and levy fines pursuant to county ordinance.
2. Housing Finance Authority
(1 Full Member - Full Term 04/2028)
(1 Alternate Member - Unexpired Term 09/2026)
Responsibilities: In accordance with Part IV of Chapter 159, F.S. and Marion County Ordinance 80-3, encouragement of investment by private enterprise & the stimulation of construction & rehabilitation of housing through the use of public financing & the provision of low-cost loans to purchase affordable housing; i.e., to consider the financing acquisition, construction, & rehabilitation of housing in Marion County. Each member of the authority shall take & subscribe the oath or affirmation required by the State Constitution.
Applications for said vacancies may be obtained at the Marion County Board of County Commissioners' Office located at 601 S.E. 25th Ave., Ocala, Florida; online at www.marionfl.org or by calling 352-438-2323.
The deadline for receiving applications is Wednesday April 10th, 2024 at 4 p.m. The Marion County Board of County Commissioners plans to appoint members on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024 or as soon thereafter as possible.
