Readout from World Bank Group President David Malpass’s Meeting with Vicky Ford, Minister for Africa at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, United Kingdom

WASHINGTON, October 15, 2021 - Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with Vicky Ford, Head of the United Kingdom (UK) Delegation to the World Bank Group (WBG) Annual Meetings & Minister for Africa at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

President Malpass thanked Minister Ford for the UK's longstanding relationship with the WBG, and for their strong historical support of IDA. Emphasizing IDA20's focus on gender and climate, President Malpass noted the importance of an ambitious IDA replenishment to a sustainable recovery for developing countries and the Bank's commitment to girls' education.

President Malpass and Minister Ford also discussed several other areas of shared interest, including Afghanistan, COVID-19 vaccines, and work on biodiversity in the lead-up to COP26.
