Duarte Costa joins Stantec as Climate Change Expert, building technical expertise of the Belgium team

For years, Stantec's Belgium-based team has advised international financing institutions on development projects supporting communities across the globe in reaching their climate and energy related ambitions. To further enhance the team's capabilities and technical expertise in this space, Stantec has welcomed Climate Change Expert Duarte Costa. Costa will apply his knowledge, experience, and passion in the field to help bring positive change to developing communities.

In his role with Stantec, Costa will bring immediate impact as the new leading technical expert for the EUROCLIMA+ programme. He will be responsible for the overall monitoring and evaluation of this EU-funded initiative which spans Latin America and aims to facilitate concrete climate change adaptation and mitigation actions across all 18 countries. This will build on his more than 10 years of experience where Costa has analysed and reported on climate change risks in developing communities, as well as held positions involving project management, climate negotiations, and business development. He will especially be able to call on his experience as the Project Manager of PULSE-Brazil, a large knowledge transfer project between the UK and Brazil on climate change governance of risks and impacts from extreme weather. He has been able to accomplish all of this through the strategic application of his educational background where he earned his master's degree in Climate Change and Policy, then grew his computer literacy in Programming languages Python and Shell, Geographical Information Systems such as ArcGIS and QGIS, and Climate Modelling in WRF.
