National Fuel Employees Volunteer for Third Annual Days of Doing

700 employees will provide more than 2,300 service hours

In recognition of Earth Day and Earth Month, on Monday, April 22 through Wednesday, April 24, more than 700 National Fuel employees will provide approximately 2,300 hours of volunteer service across the Company's New York and Pennsylvania service territory during Days of Doing (DOD), an annual three-day company-wide event. National Fuel executives and employees will volunteer in a variety of service projects focused on environmental conservation including planting, clean-up and beautification at state and regional parks and within neighborhoods.

"During Days of Doing, a highly anticipated and expanding event at National Fuel, we give back to the areas where we operate, live and work," said David P. Bauer, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Fuel Gas Company. "This year, National Fuel employees will be actively volunteering and working on 40 different improvement projects to help advance environmental stewardship throughout our communities."

In New York, DOD volunteer activities will begin each day at 12:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Sites include:

  • Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy: Volunteers will assist with gardening, landscaping and spring cleaning at Riverside (Monday), Front (Tuesday) and MLK (Wednesday) Parks.
  • Tifft Nature Preserve in Buffalo: Volunteers will assist with tree maintenance, planting live stakes, and invasive species removal on Monday and Wednesday.
  • Revitalize Dunkirk: On Monday, volunteer duties include garden cleanup at Bicentennial Park, Janice Slaton Memorial Garden and the Dunkirk Pier, as well as clean up along Main St.
  • Cradle Beach, Inc. in Angola: Volunteers will be present on Tuesday to prepare the camp for the upcoming season by helping with yard work and spring cleaning.
  • Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora: Activities on Tuesday include assisting with gardening and clean up of the park grounds.
  • Heart, Love & Soul in Niagara Falls: Beginning at noon on Tuesday, a group will assist the agency with outdoor spring cleaning, yard work, gardening and more.
  • The Village of Wellsville: On Tuesday, volunteers will participate in projects throughout the village including landscaping, garbage pick-up and baseball field maintenance.
  • Chautauqua Water Shed in Jamestown: On Wednesday, volunteers will help "beaver-proof" trees along the Chadakoin River to prevent the beaver population from disturbing the trees.
  • Audubon Community Nature Center in Jamestown: On Wednesday beginning at 1 p.m., volunteers will assist with the Center's spring cleanup, collecting trash along Route 62.

In Pennsylvania, DOD opportunities include:

  • Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Erie: On Monday volunteers will join in the school's annual Earth Day Clean-Up starting at 12:30 p.m. Tasks include picking up trash on the school grounds and surrounding neighborhood, raking leaves and placing mulch.
  • Goddard State Park in Sandy Lake: Volunteers will work with the park manager to place plantings throughout the park and to build structures for fish and turtle habitats on Monday and Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.
  • Our West Bayfront in Erie: Across all three days beginning at 12:30 p.m., National Fuel volunteers will be at two locations to either assist with a tree assessment or help with a house renovation in the West Bayfront neighborhood.
  • SafeNet in Erie: On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., employees will help the agency with general spring cleaning and yard work around the property.
  • Elk State Forest in Benezette: Volunteers will assist with park maintenance on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
  • Clear Creek Park in Sigel: On Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 8 a.m., volunteers will assist the park with a variety of improvement projects.
  • Wild Cat Park in Kane: Volunteers will assist park managers with moving and leveling a storage shed, installation of picnic table tops and general park clean up on Tuesday and Wednesday at 8 a.m.
  • Werner Park in Russell: National Fuel employees will assist a local Eagle Scout with a bridge project on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. and will return on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. to help the park with painting, cleaning and other projects.
  • Friends of Twin Lakes in Kane: On Wednesday at 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., volunteers will help with storm water remediation, cleaning sediment and sticks out from pipes and ditches as well as placing bricks around the fire pits at each campsite.
  • Island Park in Blossburg: On Wednesday at 8 a.m. volunteers will aid in a variety of improvement projects.

Over the course of Days of Doing, National Fuel employees will provide a value of approximately $75,000 to the 40 organizations based on the national volunteer hour value of $31.80 and the 2,300 man hours logged for the community initiative. In addition, National Fuel plans to provide participating Days of Doing nonprofits with a charitable gift and will continue to increase corporate volunteerism through its established Faces of Fuel Volunteer Program.
