Lévis outside workers reach tentative agreement

The Lévis blue-collar union has reached an tentative agreement with the city to renew the collective agreement for more than 500 members. The deal was reached on Wednesday, May 19, after a two-week blitz that concluded 17 months of negotiations. It will be presented to members for approval at a general meeting at the beginning of June.

If ratified, the new collective agreement will cover the five-year period from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2024.

'The twists and turns of the pandemic have dragged out the process and forced us to rethink how we bargain. Despite this, the negotiations took place in a climate of trust. We had goals and we met them, while taking into account the needs of the City of Lévis. It is now our members who will have the final say, but I am convinced that our bargaining committee has a very good agreement to offer them,' explained CUPE2334 president Gérard Poirier.
