Gas main upgrades to begin in downtown Troy

Beginning this winter, CenterPoint Energy (formerly Vectren) will perform gas main upgrades in downtown Troy. Dates have been moved up from previous estimates, and construction is scheduled to begin on February 2. The project is slated for completion by early April.

To assist downtown residents and businesses in planning for parking disruptions, Ritter Construction, the contractor for the project, has provided the following tentative schedule. As crews move through each area, parking may be limited and sidewalk interruptions may occur.

February 2 through February 10: All four quads in the Public Square will see simultaneous construction, with limited parking in each quad. Visitors and businesses can expect limited interruptions to sidewalk access, and most businesses will only see their sidewalk blocked during the time that construction is taking place at their address.

February 11 to February 18: Work will take place on Water St. and N. Market St.

February 11 to March 4: Work on gas services in the square will begin in the south-west quad, then move to the north-west quad, the north-east quad, and finish at the south-east quad. Parking will be limited but not entirely closed.

March 7 to March 11: Work will take place on W. Main Street.

March 14 to March 18: Work will take place on S. Market Street.

March 21 to March 25: Work will take place on E. Main Street.

March 28 to April 4: Additional work on N. Market and Water Street will take place as needed.

The City is working closely with CenterPoint to limit disruption to downtown residents and businesses. A representative from Ritter Construction will continue to correspond with businesses and residents to provide more information.
