Volleyball Receives Three All-RMAC honors as the 2019 Season Concludes

Spearfish, SD - The Black Hills State University volleyball team wrapped up the 2019 season last night with a loss to MSU Denver in the first round of the RMAC Tournament. They finished the season with a 12-15 overall record and 10-8 RMAC Record. In the regular season, they finished seventh in the conference, with a 10-7 record.

On the season, the team finished 14th in the league in terms of hitting percentage, 12th in blocks, eighth in assists, seventh in kills and service aces, and second in digs with a whopping 1914 on the season.

During the regular season, the team lead the RMAC with some impressive season game highs. They recorded the best attack percentage in four sets against Cameron and the second best attack percentage in five sets against Westminster. They also posted season high aces (13) against Westminster. The Yellow Jackets recorded the third most digs in a match with 127 when they took on Chadron State. The Green and Gold also had some heavy arms taking the third, fourth, and fifth spots in season game high kills. Against Adams they recorded 75 kills, 73 against Chadron State, and 72 against Fort Lewis.

Black Hills also leaves the 2019 season with some high accolades from the RMAC.

Freshman earned Freshman of the Year honors and was named to the All - RMAC Second Team. She had the second highest number of digs in the RMAC this season with 603, averaging 5.69 a set. During the regular season she set RMAC highs with the most digs in four sets and the second most digs in three sets.

In her first year at BHSU, Rhoades posted the fourth highest number of digs in a game, 44, against Fort Lewis and moved to number two all time for digs in a season, breaking the 600 mark.
and were each named to the All-RMAC honorable mention list. Ward, the sophomore, scored 298.5 points this season. She posted 260 kills on 780 attack attempts. Lech, the senior, posted 204.5 points. She managed 166 kills on 603 attack attempts. She also recorded 303 digs. More impressively, she posted 613 assists. She ends her career with 2485 assists, third all time in school history.
