Mother's Day Event and More this May at DeBary Hall Historic Site


VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA- DeBary Hall Historic Site has something for everyone this month.

Get Stepping with Line Dancing Lessons: 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, May 2, 16, and 30. Line dancing is a great way to exercise your mind and body. Join DeBary Hall staff for a fun evening full of learning beginner line dances to various music genres. This program is recommended for adults. There is a $3 charge for each class and registration is required, call 386-668-3840 or email [email protected]to sign up.

Story Time at DeBary Hall: 9:30 a.m. Fridays, May 3, 17, and 31. Children are invited to Kids Corner, a free story time featuring stories, songs, and activities. The program is designed for preschoolers, but children of all ages are welcome.

Lemonade Lecture: Blue Spring State Park: Saturday, May 4. Join Conner Wagner, Park Services Specialist, for a presentation on the history, present-day changes, and vision for the park. Nancy Jeffreys and Katherine Hallum, members of the Friends of Blue Spring State Park, will update guests on the rollout of the new all-terrain tracker for the mobility challenged to enjoy the off-road trails in the park. This presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series sponsored by Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.

Mother's Day Tea:11 a.m. Saturday, May 11. Families are invited to sharethe elegance of a traditional Victorian afternoon tea with samplings, etiquette lessons, and a house tour. Guests may sample two teas as a hostess dressed in Victorian clothing describes the history of tea and offers instruction on tea etiquette. Seating is limited and tickets must be purchased by Friday, May 3. The cost is $20 per person and tickets are nonrefundable. Call 386-668-3840 or email [email protected] to reserve tickets.

Master Gardener: Fantastic Fruits:1 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.Join our master gardeners to learn what types of fruits will grow best in this area. They will also share how to prepare your garden for the summer heat.

Lemonade Lecture: Exploring Ocala National Forest: Saturday, May 18. Discover the Ocala National Forest's abundance of nature, trails, and lakes. Step back in time with master naturalist Joan Ferrell to discover old Florida at its finest. This presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series sponsored by Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.
